Wrong Assumptions

Spiritual transformation for a lifetime -- that was yesterday's message theme. God "called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord" (1 Corinthians 1:9). This is an ongoing relationship with Christ in which we live by faith (Galatians 2:20) on a daily basis. This daily fellowship with Jesus changes us for a lifetime -- we are "called to be holy" (1 Corinthians 1:2).

And this changes our assumptions. First, spiritual transformation does not end when we "pray the prayer" or complete confirmation. Jesus changes us every day. Second, we can assume that each day and each month and each year we will grow. We will not be the same as we fellowship with Jesus.

So how has the Lord Jesus been working in your life?

Hey Uncle Rick,
Thanks for the note.  I definitely can say right now that he is working in my life like crazy.  I would like to add that putting faith in God is both frightening and comforting.  It is not easy to grow sometimes, but it always is for good.
Thanks

Recently the Lord gave me a vision concerning my life.  In the vision was a thick rope(a thick woven type of rope with many strands) and it was being pulled at both ends and slowly strands of that rope were breaking.  The rope is still intact and the strands have stopped breaking, because I called on the Lord to rescue me.  Now, he is repairing those broken strands.  It won't necessarily be comfortable or easy for me to endure the repair work but I need to know and trust that NO other strand will ever break again.  He promised me.  Just like I never have to think or remember to breath except when physically challenged.  I never have to question my Lord's power in my life even when things around me appear to be falling apart I can have faith that He is in control and will hide me in the cleft of the rock and be my strong tower.

The Lord is amazing and I continue to pray for you! I'm reminded of John 15:5: "I am the vine; you are the branches. if a man remains in me and i in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

This makes me think about what C.S. Lewis said about God as the great iconoclast, that is he is continually taking our imperfect perception of him and breaking it so he can rebuild it more perfectly.

Also reminds me of the prayer at the end Chap. 1 of A.W. Tozer's pursuit of God.  "O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need of further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, "Rise up, any love, my fair one, and come away." Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long. In Jesus' Name, Amen."

Great thoughts. I haven't read Tozer's prayer for years but that's a great prayer.
