I want to invite you to join with me and read the book of Revelation this June. Today, we begin with chapter one and this week we'll read chapters one through six, one chapter per day. I'll offer a brief reflection or two as we move through the book. Here are today's reflections.

"The revelation of Jesus Christ which God gave Him to show His servants the things that must soon take place" (Verse 1). Several points to notice.

  • The book of Revelation is about Jesus. He's the focal point. Too often, the book of Revelation becomes about different interpretations and dissolves into arguments. That's not the point of this book. It's a book that reveals Jesus so that should be our focal point as we read it.
  • This revelation was given by God the Father to Jesus with a specific purpose: "to show His servants the things that must soon take place." In other words, this book comes out of God's generous heart for us!

Much, much more could be written about chapter one. But let's keep that focus -- it's about Jesus!
