The Fellowship

Spiritual transformation happens because of fellowship with Jesus Christ. 1 Cor. 1:9: "God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord."

Our passage from Sunday (1 Cor. 1:1-9) explains this fellowship. We are "sanctified in Christ Jesus" (2) in a way that brings grace and peace "from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ" (3). Sin is forgiven and we have peace with God through faith in Christ (Romans 5:1). Grace is given in Christ so that we are enriched in every way (4-5). Specifically, the "testimony about Christ was confirmed in you" (they called on the name of Jesus for salvation) (6) and "you are not lacking in any spiritual gift" (7). We wait for the revealing  of our Lord Jeus Christ (7). Because Christ sustains us "to the end" we will be "blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ" (8).

The name Jesus Christ our Lord appears 9 times in 9 verses. Could the point be more clear? It's all about fellowship with Jesus.

Sunday is going to be great. Hope to see you all there.

Rick spoke about being saved and baptized in Christ. Not by he who goes through the physical act of baptizing us with water.  However I feel very fortunate to have Rick trying to lead the church in the correct way to glorify God.  I did notice something today in church that made me think of it a different way.  Rick is trying to lead us or "drive" us in the right direction.  I say DRIVE because he has adopted a new stylish way of holding his thirst quenching water bottle.  I am very anxious to see what Rick will come up with next in his driving us in the right direction.  Maybe a horn to wake us up, or maybe a rear view mirror to make sure he is not leaving any of us behind.  I think a steering wheel would almost be unnecessary because it is clear to me that Rick must have the GPS (God) controlling the direction that he is driving us.

I just wanted to have some fun with the new drink holder addition.

I also want to say that it is not just Rick and Adam but all in the church that make Shalom what it is, and keeps the hole church glorifying God, in all that we do for all of us in the church, and in Gods Kingdom here on earth.

Tim,

Glad you like my bottle holder idea -- it's really handy because I don't have to wonder where I put my water down. I'm also glad that you and your family are a part of Shalom. Let's pray that God continues to transform Shalom into the church He wants us to be. I am so fortunate to be a part of this church!
