Neglectful Parenting

Based on our conversation yesterday, let's consider each of these parenting styles. We'll start with "neglectful parenting."

Neglectful Parenting scores low on both guidance and love. The child feels neglected and alone. Children are unwanted in these relationships. Neglected children tend to grow up to be neglectful parents. Neglectful parents, however, can find healing in the embrace and discipline of God the Father who loved us so much that He gave His one and onlly Son, Jesus Christ. As we press into God's love and guidance, we learn how to parent. 1 John 3:1: "Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us; that we should be called children of God."

How can the church help the neglectful parent move toward Intentional Parenting?

This can happen a lot in single parent homes if parents are more concerned about their loves lives than the welfare of their kids.
