Flawed But Loved

Not sure who said this but it's good. This the gospel: "I am far more sinful than I can begin to think. i am far more loved than I could ever imagine." Knowing the gospel makes me both humble and confident. This changes how I relate to others. I do not need to have more things or more success to be "somebody." I do not think of myself as better than others but I can befriend people who are unlike me. I become a "beggar in the breadline of grace" rather than a wise rhetorician blessing others with my knowledge. I no longer see myself as deserving the very best but am thankful for what God gives.

This was all captured rather well in the response of a friend to me one day when I asked, "How are you?" He said, "Better than i deserve."

Wow, what a profound statement.  Especially when you look at the theme of the Christ centered life, "love God, love people."  We have to first understand this balance between justice and grace before we realize that the only thing we need to do is "love God"...after that everything else falls into place. If we love God, then relativism and legalism are no longer a talking point, because the word "I" is taken out of the equation and replaced with "Him". Can't wait for the sermon on Sunday!
