I'm excited for the Engage series of messages ahead! The book of Acts records the spontaneous expansion of the early church. This January we're going to seek God for what it means to be engaged in our communities and world. I hope you join us for the journey! Surf back to this site and dialogue or just read what's happening. Here is the reading schedule for this week followed by the three questions.

  • Monday -- Read Acts 1-2
  • Tuesday -- Read Acts 3-4
  • Wednesday -- Read Acts 5
  • Thursday -- Read Acts 6
  • Friday -- Read Acts 7

As you read, write down your reflections to the following questions. Keep a journal of your insights; share them with the rest of us here by clicking on "comment".

  1. What ingredients were necessary to spiritually transform the individuals in this Bible section?
  2. How were the followers of Christ engaged with God; with one another; and with others?
  3. What is God saying to our church and to me?

Here is an interesting broadcast about "cowboy churches," one of the fastest growing church movements in the U.S.  The idea is bringing "church" to the un-churched.

Thanks -- reminds me of 1 Corinthians 9:20-23. So the "Engage" question is "How do we be the church to the unchurched in our area?"

how about an evangelistic outreach like movies in the park or movies on Shalom's lawn?  Like Louie Giglio's message, "How Great is Our God", Veggie Tales, Jesus Film, these are just a few I can think of.

I'm thinking of a non-threatening environment like cowboy church, where people can just bring their lawn chairs and relax.
